Weily Grina-Shay, Clarinet
Passionate and versatile performer, Weily Shay is a clarinetist currently residing in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She has performed with ensembles such as the Mankato Symphony, Wayzata Symphony, Chione Woodwind Quintet, the University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra, and the Peabody Concert Orchestra.
Weily is also a member of Chione Quintet, an all female woodwind quintet based in the Twin Cities. With Chione, Weily has performed in various venues such as, Icehouse Minneapolis, the Current's 2018 Rock the Cradle event, and as Courtroom Concert Artists at the Schubert Club. In Spring 2018, Chione was awarded a grant in partnership with Mankato Symphony Orchestra to perform "storytime" performances for libraries around southeastern Minnesota. In Fall 2018 to Spring 2019, Chione will be performing as Class Notes Artists with MPR expanding on their storytime series.
Weily received her Master of Music degree at the Peabody Institute of Music studying under Anthony McGill in May 2016 where she was awarded the Martha and William Bill Memorial Prize in Clarinet. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music studying under Ixi Chen in December 2013.
